The season will have ten episodes and will be based on the famous books by Robert Lawrence Stine.

Nightmares are back for the family! Disney+ is working on an upcoming live-action Goosebumps series, based on the books by writer Robert Lawrence Stine. This is the second television adaptation of his literary work since the first had four seasons and was broadcast in the 1990s. 

At that time, the narrative of the fiction was structured in an anthological way to be able to take each story in the form of an episode and some are remembered to this day for the fear they caused in the public of all ages.

As reported by Variety magazine, the plot will focus on “a group of five high school students who unleash supernatural forces on their city and must work together, thanks to and despite their friendships, rivalries, and pasts between them, to save it, learning a lot about their own teenage secrets from parents in the process.” From what is understood from its official synopsis, the proposal will not have an anthology format and will be told through a single plotline throughout the season.

This new version for the small screen will consist of 10 episodes, written by Nick Stoller and Rob Letterman (they are also executive producers). Neal H. Moritz will also have an executive producing role, after producing the two Goosebumps films that were released in 2015 and 2018, respectively. In addition, Letterman, who was behind the first installment, will direct the pilot episode.

It should be noted that this is not the first time that Stine’s stories have been brought to the original Disney + catalog, since, in October 2021, a series based on his graphic novels (Just Beyond) was released. 

In April 2020, it was reported that the American author had given the go-ahead for another fiction adapting his successful horror novels, and almost two years later, he has just started pre-production. For now, there are no more details about the actors that will make up the cast or if there is an approximate release date on the streaming service.

Goosebumps marked a generation of children and adolescents

Goosebumps was brought to TV for the first time in 1995, it was originally broadcast by the Canadian signal YTV and, due to its success, it reached other regions of the world to continue to land the little ones at home. In Latin America, the program was seen through the Fox Kids channel and, later, on Jetix.

Robert Lawrence Stine’s novels are among the best-selling literary series globally, with more than 400 million copies in English and translated into more than 30 languages. There are 200 publications in total that include the main narratives of the books, the spin-offs, and other stories related to this same terrifying universe.
