Paramount Pictures

The well-known actor, in this second chapter, returns to play the antagonist, Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik.

Sonic 2 – The Film is definitely a project to keep an eye on: after the great success of the first chapter, which somehow followed the trend opened by Detective Pikachu, which managed to be a perfect bridge between the world of video games and the cinematic universe. This sequel, which has somewhat more responsive than its predecessor, sees the return of the spectacular cast of the first title.

with also, of course, the presence of the iconic Jim Carrey in the role of the antagonist, Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik, one of the most recognizable characters in the SEGA videogame series. Anyone who has seen the other feature film knows very well that the character’s design has been completely changed, at least up to the final section of the project, when he approached the videogame aesthetic.

As a long-haired man with a mustache, in fact, Jim Carrey’s villain has completely shaved his head and his mustache has become a mustache. This change, of course, was held for the entire duration of Sonic 2 – The Movie, and, in a recent interview for ComicBook, the same actor talked about the look of his alter ego.

I lobbied for the fat Eggman, the great Eggman, for a while, but apparently, they wanted to show the public just how imperfect my real body is. So, I’ve done it now, so you never know. But yes, there is so much fun with the appearance of this character. I really wanted to start veering towards ‘let’s be the guy they’re used to seeing. That mustache is an outward manifestation of the ego. He shaves his head on the mushroom planet because of its loose hair. It’s the hair that lost the battle, man.

We remind you that Sonic 2 – The Film arrives in Italian cinemas on April 7, 2022, with the production by Paramount Pictures, Original Film, SEGA, Blur Studio, Marza Animation Planet, and directed by Jeff Fowler.
