Filming for the sequel to The Old Guard is taking place in Rome. Here is the video from the set with the protagonists of the Netflix movie!

During the Tudum online event, Netflix wanted to charge fans with expectations for numerous upcoming movies coming to the streaming platform, including the sequel to The Old Guard. Starring the beautiful and talented Charlize Theron, the film at its release (in 2020) made record views in a very short time, numbers that led Netflix to want to invest again in the project and its talents involved, albeit with some changes.

Among the locations of the sequel we also find Rome, from whose set comes a video starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kiki Layne, Charlize Theron, Luca Marinelli, and Marwan Kenzari. Netflix showed the video during the Tudum event, reassuring fans that production of the expected film is still underway. In July the crew was shooting in Trieste.

The Old Guard 2: the stars promise “a worthy sequel”. Uma Thurman is also in the cast

“We are in beautiful Rome to shoot the sequel to The Old Guard. We know how much you loved the first film and we are working hard to make a better one, ”says the protagonist and producer of the film Charlize Theron (who opted for a drastic change of look for the shoot). Victoria Mahoney has taken over from Gina Prince-Bythewood as director, while there are two big additions to the cast: Uma Thurman and Henry Golding! The protagonists of the previous film are back: Theron, Kiki Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Veronica Ngo, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

The Netflix film is based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Greg Rucka, who also wrote the screenplay. In The Old Guard, Charlize Theron plays a warrior named Andy who leads a secret group of mercenaries (including “our” Luca Marinelli) who possess the mysterious ability to stay alive and who protect humanity for hundreds of years.
