Kaala…is a crime drama web series from Disney Plus Hotstar. A film by Rajinikanth was released in the year 2018. The name of that film was also ‘Kaala’. But, this is a web series. Its story is quite fresh. The faces playing the lead roles in the film are also new. The story has power and a touch of suspense. But, the question arises, is it worth taking out five hours to watch eight episodes of this crime drama web series? Read our review.

Kaala Web Series Story:

An unknown person starts giving information about the real business of famous businessman Naman Arya (Taher Shabbir) to IB (Intelligence Bureau) officer Ritwik (Avinash Tiwari). Ritwik, being an IB officer, investigates Naman Arya. He learns that Naman Arya’s real business is reverse hawala. He starts gathering evidence to catch Naman Arya. But, the state government plays games with it. 

She implicates IB by settling with Naman Arya. Naman Arya buys everyone one by one with his money. Not only this, he traps Ritwik and hides black money in his house, and gets him declared a traitor. Now, instead of catching Naman Arya, the IB gets busy in catching its own officer Ritwik. In such a situation, the question arises how will Ritwik get Naman Arya punished? To know this you will have to watch all the episodes of this web series.

Kaala Web Series Analysis:

The story written in the above paragraph seems quite simple to read. But, it has been presented in an equally complicated manner in the web series. There is thrill, comedy, and adventure in this crime drama series. There are many such twists and turns in the entire series, which were not even imagined. 

Web series director and writer Bejoy Nambiar has woven the story in such a way that you will not understand the story without watching all eight episodes. The suspense hidden in every episode will not allow you to leave the web series. The ending will be tied and the suspense will be revealed layer by layer.

Kaala Web Series Actors Performance:

On one hand, Avinash Tiwari is the life of this series. On the other hand, Jitin Gulati is the biggest surprise element of this series. If either of them had failed in their work, the fun of this series would have been ruined. But, both of them remained engaged till the end. Avinash Tiwari won the hearts of the audience with his acting. Jitin Gulati stole the show with his body language, his dialogues, and his simplicity. Apart from these two, Rohan Vinod Mehra and Taher Shabbir have also done good work.

The story has a powerful ending. But, the beginning is slow. If this story had been told in seven episodes instead of eight, it would have been icing on the cake. The story is strong, so if emphasis had been laid on background music, the level of suspense would have increased further.

Watch it or not?

If you like watching crime dramas then this web series is for you. You can also watch this web series with your family members. Bloodshed has been shown in this series but as much as is needed. Forced and gory scenes have not been shown. But, since the story is set in Kolkata, Bengali language has been used in some places due to which many dialogues are not understandable. In such a situation, you have to take the help of captions.
