Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire: Within the new issue, the famous magazine interviewed director Adam Wingard, extracting some interesting statements from him related to the new chapter of MonsterVerse. The director reported that the two Kaiju (Godzilla and Kong) have certainly not become friends, but that their “dysfunctional” collaboration will necessarily have to take place.
“There’s a truce of sorts: Godzilla is in control of the surface world and Kong is in the Hollow Earth. It wasn’t, ‘Okay, call me when something goes wrong, Kong. And I, Godzilla, will come to the rescue!’”
On the dynamics of the collaboration between the two Kaiju, Wingard admitted that he took inspiration from the cinema of the 80s, then referring to a film in particular “Lethal Weapon”. The director then explained that both will face a moment of change, with the first (Kong) engaged in what seems like a personal journey of growth (the son?), and the second (Godzilla) who will go through more physical changes during the film, starting with that pink glow that caused so much discussion in the first trailers.
Empire Magazine has also released a new image of Godzilla and Kong: The New Empire, with the two protagonists in a beautiful pose. You can admire it below.
